Sona Dermatology uses the ExcelV for pigmentation and other vascular skin treatments. The Excel® V Laser System is the newest and most advanced state-of-the-art laser technology for treating vascular skin conditions such as Rosacea, spider veins and telangiectasia and pigmented lesions including sunspots. It combines two different wave lengths to make it the most effective, versatile and powerful vascular laser available.

The system contains various wavelength modes, allowing the delivery of both short pulses for superficial blemishes, such as small lesions and skin discoloration, and longer pulses for deeper vascular conditions, such as leg veins and nodular port wine stains.

Vascular lesions are a type of common skin concern that affect up to 50% of women aged 18 years and up. Spider veins, telangiectasias, and diffuse redness may be systemic but are often a result of aging, sun damage or pregnancy. Vascular lesions can also be present from birth, appearing as a red or purple birthmark.

Rosacea, which is a chronic skin condition and often mistaken for a sunburn or rosy skin, presents with redness, visible blood vessels and sometimes tiny red bumps that can be compared to acne. Rosacea often worsens over time, so it is important to treat and prevent with a combination of oral and topical medications, as well as laser therapy.

We use the award-winning Excel V laser from Cutera to treat rosacea in a simple in-office procedure. There may be mild redness afterward that lasts 1-3 days. Some people have small bruises where larger vessels were treated, which are absorbed by the body over several days to 1 week.
