Thomas Yu, M.D. is a board certified dermatologist and fellowship-trained Mohs surgeon. He received his medical degree with honors at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and completed his internship in internal medicine at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. Dr. Yu received his residency training in dermatology at Columbia University’s St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Medical Center, where he served as Chief Resident. He then completed his fellowship in Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Surgery at Columbia University’s Center for Laser and Dermatologic Surgery. He has been in practice over 16 years. He is the author of multiple articles and book chapters regarding cutaneous oncology, reconstructive surgery and dermatologic surgery.
Kemi Akingboye, M.D.

Adekemi Akingboye, M.D. is a board-certified dermatologist. She joined Sona Dermatology after seven years practicing dermatology. Dr. Akingboye received her Bachelor of Science degree from State University of New York Stony Brook and her medical degree from SUNY Downstate. She completed her internship at St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital in New York, NY and her residency at Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. She received a faculty appointment in the Department of Dermatology at The Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York, NY where she worked seeing patients and teaching. She has contributed to peer reviewed publications and has been honored by numerous professional organizations including the American Academy of Dermatology.
Dr. Akingboye is a member of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, is a fellow for the American Academy of Dermatology, and a member of the Skin of Color Society. She has interest in skin of color, various types of alopecia (including central centrifugal cicatricial alopecia), acne, and psoriasis, and sees both adults and children. Dr. Akingboye also performs various medical and cosmetic procedures, including cortisone shots, excisions of skin cancers, and injection of various fillers and Botox for the treatment of wrinkles. "I take care to provide the best care for my patients so that they leave my office feeling better about their skin than when they first walked in to see me." Dr. Akingboye sees patients in our Bethesda office and offers early morning patient hours starting at 7 a.m.
Cooper Wriston, M.D.

Cooper Wriston, M.D. studied biology at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA before attending medical school at Duke University in Durham, NC. He acquired valuable experience during his internship with the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, NC and his residencies with the Department of Dermatology at the Mayo School of Graduate Medical Education in Rochester, MN and with the University of North Carolina’s Department of Internal Medicine.
Before joining Sona Dermatology, Dr. Wriston was a dermatologist with the Skin Care Doctors out of Burnsville, MN and was also an assistant professor of dermatology for the Mayo Clinic Health System in Owatonna’s department of dermatology. During his tenure with Mayo, he received the Mayo Clinic’s Patient Excellence Award. This award recognizes departments, divisions and units that score in the top 10 percent in national patient satisfaction surveys within the organization. Dr. Wriston also is certified in dermatology by the American Board of Dermatology.
Joseph Lee, M.D., Ph.D.
Germantown & Bethesda
Joseph Lee, M.D., Ph.D. is a board certified dermatologist. He received his Ph.D., medical degree and dermatology residency training from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. He teaches at the National Institutes of Health, and has a broad background in skin cancer research and a special interest in surgery. Dr. Lee sees patients in in both Germantown and Bethesda clinics. He has been in practice for over 25 years.
Charles William Doubleday, M.D.

Dr. Doubleday is a well-respected Houston Dermatologist who has joined the Sona Dermatology team as Cosmetic Medical Director in Houston and Dallas. Dr. Doubleday is a board-certified dermatologist who ran a private practice in the Galleria Area of Houston for 26 years. His professional expertise includes the diagnosis and treatment of skin diseases; Botox and other dermal filler procedures; and sclerotherapy of leg veins. His educational background began with a bachelor’s degree in the Plan II Honors Program at the University of Texas, Austin. He followed this by earning his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School in Houston. He completed an internship at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth and did his residency at the University of Texas Medical School. As Sona Dermatology continues to expand to better serve our patients within the Houston and Dallas markets, our focus remains on providing exceptional patient-centric care. Our goal is to provide you high quality skin care using leading edge technology and medical expertise from our board-certified dermatologist. Dr. Doubleday’s medical expertise will help to further Sona Dermatology’s long-standing reputation in Houston and Dallas.
Brendan Pillemer, M.D., Ph.D.
Brendan Pillemer, M.D., Ph.D. is a board certified dermatologist who grew up near Rockville. He comes to Sona Dermatology from a practice in Pittsburgh, PA. Dr. Pillemer received his medical degree and his Ph.D. in Immunology from the University of Pittsburgh. He also completed his residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Dr. Pillemer received his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology. He sees medical patients of all ages, and has a particular interest in eczema, psoriasis, and other rashes. Dr. Pillemer sees patients in our Germantown office. Dr. Pillemer enjoys travel, scuba diving, and ice hockey. He resides in Gaithersburg with his family.
Nashida Beckett, M.D.
Nashida Beckett, M.D. is a board certified dermatologist. She joined Sona Dermatology after 7 years in private practice in the Washington D.C. area. Dr. Beckett received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Cornell University and a Master’s degree in Public Health from George Washington University. She received her medical degree from Howard University College of Medicine and performed her internship in internal medicine at Washington Hospital Center. Dr. Beckett completed her dermatology residency at Howard University Hospital, where she served as Chief Resident. Dr. Beckett has been published in professional journals and has presented at numerous national and regional dermatology meetings. She is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology and is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. She has also spent time treating patients abroad in Botswana through the University of Pennsylvania-Botswana Partnership.
Dr. Beckett enjoys practicing general dermatology and treating patients of all ages and skin types. Her special interests include dermatologic surgery and cosmetic dermatology. She believes in the importance of building strong relationships with her patients in order to provide the best care possible. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband and two daughters.
Anita Iyer, M.D.
Anita Iyer, M.D. is a board certified dermatologist and a Diplomat of the American Board of Dermatology. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati, where she participated in the Co-op program at NASA Lewis Research Center. Dr. Iyer completed her medical degree at the Medical College of Ohio, where she was recognized for her outstanding academic achievements by the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. She completed her internship at Lahey Clinic in Burlington, MA and her residency at Henry Ford Hospital, Department of Dermatology, in Detroit, MI. She has practiced in both Montgomery and Howard Counties since 2002.
Dr. Iyer prides herself in the quality of care her patients receive. She always strives to treat patients with consideration. She wants her patients to have ample opportunity to discuss their concerns and ask their questions. Dr. Iyer enjoys treating patients of all ages and has focused on general Dermatology, Dermatologic Surgery and Cosmetic Dermatology. Throughout her career Dr. Iyer has enjoyed mentoring young graduates with aspirations to continue to further medical degrees.
Shane O'Neil, PA-C
Shane O'Neil is a board-certified Physician Assistant from Binghamton, NY with 5 years of dermatology experience. He is married to his wife KC, who is also a physician assistant. Shane's hobbies include exercise, playing and watching sports, reading, traveling, and spending time with friends and family. Having recently relocated from the Washington, D.C. area, Shane is happy to now call Charlotte home. "I strive to provide easy access and excellent care so my patients can leave our office with a smile on their face."
Hayden Strobel, NP
Hayden Strobel, MSN, FNP-C is a Family Nurse Practitioner licensed by the Texas Board of Nursing and certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Hayden is originally from Little Rock, Arkansas and attended University of Arkansas for her undergraduate degree of Bachelor of Science in Nursing. After graduating, Hayden moved to Houston, TX where she worked as a cardiac nurse at Houston Methodist Hospital prior to obtaining her Master of Science in Nursing from UT Health Science Center. After obtaining her license as a Nurse Practitioner, Hayden joined Texas Skin Center and has been trained to assess and diagnose patients across the lifespan and sees a wide variety of dermatological conditions. Hayden strives to provide quality, patient-centered care, and is eager to launch integrated care in the Houston market. In her free time, Hayden enjoys attending Astros games, concerts, traveling and spending time with her golden retriever, Lyla.
